Seaside Engineering & Surveying (SEAS) has extensive experience in GIS data collection and has completed numerous projects for DOD agencies. SEAS is an industry leader in GIS surveys of Inland Waterways and has provided Inland Electronic Navigational Chart (IENC) GIS base mapping product (for over 2000 miles of waterway) to the Louisville, Pittsburgh, Mobile, St. Paul, St. Louis, Little Rock and Rock Island US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Districts. SEAS is at the forefront of IENC GIS data collection through innovative integration and development of survey technology, software and data collection procedures.
In the course of performing inland waterway mapping SEAS developed a real-time survey system that operates from a survey vessel. SMACS has been used to map and test IENCs on most of the navigable waterways in the eastern United States. SEAS also conducts remote sensing surveys utilizing Mobile LiDAR from a survey vessel to perform GIS data collection for IENC mapping projects. SEAS performs feature extraction from the LiDAR data with TopoDOT, MicroStation and AutoCAD.
SEAS has also performed GIS data collection projects for the New Orleans USACE District for the National Levee Database (NLD) project and at Military Installations including Eglin AFB, Florida and AUTEC Navy Base, Andros Island Bahamas. The data collection was performed with RTK GPS and robotic total stations.
