KENT STEWART

Remote Sensing Manager

Kent Stewart is the Remote Sensing Manager at SEAS and a licensed surveyor in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. He started surveying in 1986 and obtained his first surveying license in Oklahoma in 1995. He is a certified Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot as well as a licensed United States Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner Captain. His expertise is in remote sensing, mainly in mobile mapping systems, UAS mapping systems, remotely operated vehicles and software and hardware development. He has been a presenting speaker at state and national industry conferences and has authored an article in Point Of Beginning (POB) magazine. Kent has served on a panel at the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) cut score workshop to set passing grades for upcoming national exams.

Kent’s work experience with SEAS first started in 2003 when he was with another company, Woolpert LLC. He was the lead project manager tasked to build a team to pursue a US Corps of Engineers AE contract for the Pittsburg District, with Woolpert being the prime contractor. Kent contacted John Gustin and requested SEAS be on that team for the hydrographic surveying component. Once the team won the contract, the relationship with SEAS began, and soon grew into a tried-and-true friendship between Kent and the SEAS managers and personnel. In 2012, after an amicable separation with Woolpert, Kent reached out to SEAS and was offered the position of remote sensing manager, which he still holds today. He has helped SEAS grow this area of the business and has helped procure the needed hardware and software to make SEAS a viable contender in this field of surveying.

Kent and his wife Cindy are the proud parents of three grown children which all reside in the Florida panhandle. Two of their children are following in Kent’s footsteps and have careers in the surveying field, both currently work for SEAS. Their other son also shares professional ties by being a USCG Merchant Mariner Captain. Kent and Cindy have four grandchildren that they spend as much time with as possible. The building of a tight, cohesive family life with children and grandchildren is of paramount importance for them. They feel that a shared purpose, driven by shared values, pulls the family closer.

In his spare time, Kent likes to work on their newly acquired farm, woodworking, and playing golf, but his favorite pass-times are hunting and offshore fishing with family and friends. Kent and Cindy also share a ministry in the choir at their church in Baker.
