Topographic Survey, USACE Louisville
SEAS conducted a 67-acre survey for a repaving and apron expansion project using pavement edges, runway lights, catch basins (including inverts and pipe sizes), pavement markings, pavement joints, sub-drains, outlets and headwalls. The project consisted of: GPS Control Network, Digital Levels, Robotic TS Data Collection, Mobile LiDAR data collection, Microstation V8i; TerraSolid; TerraScan, Certainty 3D TopoDot and CADD.
SJAFB consisted of several challenges to include tight deadline requirements for the field survey and production of the deliverables. Coordination with Base Security along with airfield driving training for survey personnel was imperative as well coordination with Airfield Management and obtaining an escort for access to the apron and taxiway. SEAS coordinated Flight Line Photography Authorization for security reasons while ongoing apron construction and aircraft traffic on the apron continued during data collection.
