USACE Huntington District
Digitizing Lake Projects
SEAS has performed digitizing and georeferencing of maps for the USACE Huntington District on more than 25 lake project locations in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. These projects required georeferencing of orthophotography and hand drawn maps (dating back to the 1930’s), integration of historical field survey data, deed information, and recent field surveys to draw project control, fee, and easement boundary locations, flowage easement contours, and tract boundaries. SEAS developed tools for clipping and rotating of maps, as well as streamlining custom attribution of features to meet standards set by the Huntington district. Each feature digitized and attributed was required to have unique feature id’s. These projects contained over 1500 map sheets, 16000 tracts, 70,000 uniquely attributed features, and over 1.6 million attributes populated.
