SEAS has partnered with Echo 81 to install the Kongsberg EM2042, a cutting-edge multibeam echo sounder, onto our vessel. This technology helps with improving data accuracy and bottom coverage for aquatic surveys. The installation was the first ever done in the United States. It was completed on-site at Lake Douglas (Tennessee) to minimize project downtime, ensuring smoother operations and more precise results.
This new system is 60% lighter than previous models, making it easier to use on different types of boats, including unmanned ones. It provides sharper, more accurate underwater data thanks to advanced steering and built-in navigation technology. With lower power use and the ability to capture detailed backscatter data, it’s designed for efficiency.
Installation is quick and easy, and it adjusts automatically to different mounting setups. Better stability in rough waters means more reliable results, while fast part changes and round-the-clock support from KONGSBERG ensure minimal downtime—making lake and ocean mapping faster and more accurate than ever.
